Your association may be donating your money without your permission to an anti-homeowner lobbying organization called the Community Associations Institute (CAI).
CAI is a trade group of lawyers , management companies and other vendors who lobby for laws that take away your rights and put the investment in your home at great risk.
For example CAI has written laws giving associations more power than the IRS to fine, lien and foreclose on homes for lawyers fees.
Your board may be using your dues to pass these antihomeowner laws.
You can help curb this misappropriation of your dues.

When you send your association dues payment simply write on your check:" For Homeowner Association Maintenance ONLY."
Insist that your dues are to be used for maintenance only
Your association may also be using your dues to buy Directors and Officers Liability insurance for association managers.
This means that you are paying the premiums for insurance to defend the managers if they do something wrong against you!
Would you do this for the auto mechanic who is fixing your car?!
The original purpose of dues is for maintenance.
Just be sure that this is all your dues are used for and nothing else.
Not for lawyers lobby groups, not for managers perks, not for board member perks, - just maintenance.
Maybe your rates can then go down by a whole bunch!
