TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION by Dave Hagmaier |
|
Let me take you back around this same time 224 years ago. To explain it in more simple terms lets just say it was the birth of a nation, not just any nation, but a nation of great potential. Our fore fathers arrived and settled the land and later fought and gave their lives to rid this new nation of a cancer that threatened its very existence. This disease was named -"taxation without representation". Now taxation was needed and representation was good but the two without each other only meant big trouble. As time evolved, representation started to take on a whole new look as all the attention was being diverted to a new player, named "specialinterest". Now this special interest character was really special, I guess that's why his name was special interest, anyhow special interest would hang out at the finest watering holes in town, and many men in town would spend outrageous amounts of money to fund campaigns to hold a public seat just to have a glimpse at special interest. These men hoped to be elected which surely guaranteed them the opportunity to frequent the same pubs and sit at the same table with special interest. You see special interest had a unique way of making friends, you know, the kind of friends that were big and important. Meanwhile the fighting man, remember the fighting man from the beginning of this story? Well it seems these elected boys forgot all about the fighting man, you know, they were too busy on their knees cleaning up what could only be compared to leftover candy remnants from a broken piñata, so they didn't spend much time thinking about the fighting man, or anyone else for that matter, besides they were all busy nourishing their sweat tooth's. You see, the elected boys recruited collectors, one such collector was named... you may recognize him as, well... I'm not going to mention any names but their initials are I.R.S., to perform the collection duties. Now I.R.S. had proven himself to be an extremist and would stop at nothing to force open the pocketbooks of any of the fighters that resisted. All the while the elected boys took a few steps back to watch the mayhem but were still very focused on the contents of the ever-swinging piñata. Shortly afterwards everybody including, the fighters, the elected boys, the I.R.S., and others had forgotten all about representation while they sulked in the wealth of special interest. Some even made damned sure representation would never show his defeated face again. Anyhow, Homeowner had uncovered documents that spoke of forgotten representation. The scavenger intrigued at this point could not help but cry after reading the story about exiled, representation. So he set out on a journey with the hope of finding representation and to resurrect his spirit once again. Subsequently more and more taxes were collected to fortify the newly constructed neighborhood bunkers. Sentries consisting of snakes of all various shapes and sizes were placed around the exterior neighborhood walls to guard against any attempted penetration by representation. These snakes were called attorneys, which typically preyed on everything and everyone. It is a sad tale and nobody knows for sure what lies ahead. So in your travels should you happen to stumble across representation keep a steady eye on him because you may never live long enough to seize such opportunity again. If by chance you can actually get close enough to speak with him let him know the homeowners want him back.

| About the Author
My name is Dave Hagmaier. I live in Fullerton, CA. a conservative Orange County town. Currently I am waiting to receive a heart transplant and have been instructed by my doctors the risks of returning to my usual profession, employee-contractor relations in freight forwarding and brokerage. I have always been the voice for the working man, the disadvantaged and others, who for one reason or another have been exploited or misunderstood. This commitment has earned me the privilige of working with some of the best names and companies in the industry who realize their continued success is dependant on having good relations with their employees. Allowing me to review, critique and make recommendations to both management and workers has provided me a unique experience. After mistakenly purchasing my home within the confines of an association I soon learned not only was I accountable to the wrath of the federal government but also to state, county, city, and now neighborhood government. The neighborhood version is the most threatening of all governments. Members have no protection from radical groups who take up stake and run off anyone not in agreement with their values. I have become sickened to experience first hand how powerless a homeowner is and the cost involved to defend ones position. I devoted all my time efforts, labor and resources to better my community. I have saved my association thousands upon thousands of dollars in recent times, and was well on the road to turning around a neglected community. Soon I would resign my position as my free services, advise, management, contract negotiations, and legal services, were also being exploited by a board with nothing better to do than pick on people and abuse their authority. After resigning our association has taken a severe nosedive and currently of the $210,000 in annual revenues our coffers total $2,000 and decreasing daily. Watching members describe their problems at the monthly meetings in such poor fashion no resolve ever occurred I decided to coach and tutor members prior to their presentations. The board realizes my efforts and has attempted to censor and intimidate me with lawsuits, mediation, and fabricated monthly assessment statements that show a delinquent account status and other various tools boards typically use to discourage their opponents. I have put a sincere effort towards correcting the injustice in contradiction of others, and learning money being the only resolve, without a guarantee of success. Taxation without representation is my current agenda, as I must appeal to my elected representatives to fix what I fear to be the last front of American liberties. We as Americans have succumbed to the fleecing of American culture, as we have known it from our past. So when you ask me to tell your readers about myself, I can tell you this much. I am just one man, strong willed, optimistic of the future, passionate about my beliefs ,composed, retaining my sense of humor, and giving back to my community, while drowning in a sea of destruction . I promise to continue fighting the good fight until there is no fight left in me. ................Was that brief?

| Nice story. I would like to see you add the constitutional protections, like "due process", our forefathers built into the constitution (because non-judicial foreclosure is repugnant to the constitution and, therefore, null and void). Concerned Homeowner - August 22, 2000 |
